“Riviera Salon”

Definition
A home entertaining suite that fuses Mediterranean farmhouse bones with grand-hotel polish. Whitewashed beams, rubble stone and a stucco fireplace set a relaxed villa mood; Venetian-gold paint, Murano-glass chandeliers and a black-and-white marble check bring European salon glamour. The goal: casual daylight living that can turn, at night, into a dressed-up setting for guests.

Design framework
Spatial script.
A short procession from entry to dining to salon is stitched by arches and round columns creating the architectural “hinge” of the suite. Floor textures map the zones: cobblestone at the hall, painted white wood planks at the raised dining platform, and checkerboard marble in the main seating area. A stucco fireplace anchors conversation; sliding glass doors opens view to the garden.

Light. Layered illumination keeps the atmosphere fluid, uplight grazing the beams, chandelier sparkle over the table with candle-like sconces washing the gold wall.

Material & palette. Chalky plaster, limestone, rough-cut stone, painted wood and aged brass are warmed by Venetian gold. White upholstery with black piping and tailored silhouettes calm the envelope, while a red Persian rug and black accents add depth.

Details. A mirrored baroque frame, art photography and jewel-like glass chandeliers act as “heirloom” notes. The brass-edged elevator adds that touch of modern convenience in a neo classical shell.

Concept
The room reads like a private Riviera club, easy by day, luminous and formal by night. Rustic textures ground the space; refined finishes elevate it. Guests move naturally from aperitif in the salon to dinner under Murano glass, gathering around a stucco fireplace that makes the suite feel timeless and welcoming.
