Concept — “Red Refuge”

Definition
A contemporary istiraha that reinterprets the Saudi majlis, a room for gathering, greeting, and socialising. Limewash, Stone finish tiles, dark wood, and black metal set a calm field; a single oxide-red note, in art and textiles, carries the memory of Sadu weaving and sunset dunes. The spaces are uncluttered so that guests, light, and conversations feel intimate.

Design Framework

  • Procession & privacy: A tall, quiet entry opens to the lounge; keeping views controlled while maintaining flow.

  • Seating logic: Linear arrangements and generous circulation keep conversation continuous, a majlis etiquette without clutter.

  • Material kit: Limestone finish tiles and limewash walls, matte black fixtures, and oxide accents; Surfaces are durable for high use.

  • Light strategy: 3000K cove lights wash the ceilings; grazers articulate the walls.  A canopy moderates daylight to protect intimacy.

  • Acoustic calm: Soft rugs and upholstered elements temper reverberation, supporting long conversations.

Concept
The project revisits the Saudi majlis as a refined, modern refuge: open enough for family to unite, layered enough for privacy. One disciplined palette and a decisive stroke of red, stitch lounge and wash areas into a single, welcoming narrative; hospitality made architectural.
