Dr Aallam Indoor Pool

“The Roman Bathhouse”
Essence
Dr Aallam’s project is an indoor pool pavilion where water becomes architecture. An ‘ocean’ canopy aquarium spans the room like an inverted sky, while classical stone columns, wood decks, and indoor gardens ground the scene. The result is a sensorial space for wellness and conversation.
Architectural Idea
the ancient arcade became a fluid sanctuary. Vaults are not masonry; they’re liquid light. Caryatid columns anchor the space and establish a ceremonial rhythm around the pool. The language is deliberately dual: antiquity’s order meeting the freedom of a modern, experimental ceiling.
Spatial Strategy
The pool is the stage and mirror. A large scale birdcage introduces a living counterpoint to the aquarium ceiling. Where the vault is visual and expansive, the cage is close and kinetic: scale, sound, and motion are at the core of the design concept .
Design DNA
The project condenses our constants: narrative spaces that feel curated yet effortless; classical proportions reinterpreted; material honesty elevated by craft; biophilia used as punctuation, not decoration; and light treated as a performative medium that sets the social temperature of the scene. Maximal sensorial impact is held together in a heavenly interior composed of three curated elements, the vaulted aquarium, a living aviary, and a quiet garden, turning the indoor pool into a serene, year-round sanctuary.
Dr Aallam’s project is a timeless roman bathhouse reimagined for today, where a vaulted sky of water turns swimming, gathering, and socializing into a single, immersive ritual.
